RED HAT AND GRAMMAR ENGINE UNVEIL EMBEDDED DEVELOPMENT
TOOL RUNNING OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE

PromICE.net’s Web Server Capabilities and Red Hat’s Open Source
Solution Enables Network-Based Access to Remote Target Development Hardware

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.--April 4, 2001--Red Hat, Inc. (Nasdaq:RHAT),
the leader in developing, deploying and managing open source solutions,
today announced that Grammar Engine, Inc.’s PromICE.net, a memory
emulator that allows embedded developers to collaboratively build
applications over the Internet, runs on uClinux operating system technology
that was implemented by Red Hat. PromICE.net, based on the NetSilicon
processor, is an embedded development tool that runs open source
software. Its Web server capabilities enable embedded developers to put
their target on the Internet and allow co-workers to access it from
anywhere in the world for development of applications.

"The incorporation of Red Hat Linux into the memory emulator represents a
breakthrough for embedded developers who want to avoid the limitations
imposed by proprietary software in their development environment," said
Michael Tiemann, CTO of Red Hat. "This is an opportunity for developers to
use Linux to add features, options and programs to PromICE.net that are
needed for their individual development environments without experiencing
the shortcomings of the proprietary model."

"Grammar Engine has chosen to work with Red Hat and use uClinux and support
GPL software because of the tremendous opportunities that this offers to
embedded developers," said Arvind Rana, CTO of Grammar Engine Inc. "Since
our customers are embedded software developers, we understand that they
want ultimate control over their development tools. Access to open source
code provides us the opportunity to co-develop, with each of our customers,
the exact tool they need."
