Metro Link to Provide Dedicated Hardware Support to Sigma Designs Strategic Partnership focuses on Linux for MPEG-2 video Ft. Lauderdale, FL April 24, 2001 -- Under a recently announced agreement, Metro Link, Inc. will provide customer integration services for set-top boxes utilizing Sigma Designs, Inc. new EM8400 MPEG decoder chips. "Metro Link's extensive graphics and video experience will broaden our range of applications and help accelerate our customers' time-to-market for next generation Linux-based Internet Appliance development," said Ken Lowe, VP of Business Development at Sigma Designs (Nasdaq:SIGM). Metro Link, the leader in graphical display software for Linux, LynuxWorks' LynxOS, QNX and other embedded operating systems, will also be developing drivers and a multimedia package for Sigma Designs MPEG-2/DVD decoder, which is optimized for streaming video applications. As part of the strategic relationship, Metro Link will also add support for Sigma Design chips and boards into their Metro-X™ product running on a variety of operating systems.
