Who says you need a $50,000 marketing budget to publish a bestseller? San Francisco, CA--When independent computer book publisher No Starch Press released the second edition of STEAL THIS COMPUTER BOOK 2 (1- 886411-42-5, $24.95 trade w/CD-ROM, November 2000, http://www.nostarch.com/?stcb2), they knew early on they had struck gold. With over 40,000 copies sold in its first six months alone, STEAL THIS COMPUTER BOOK 2 has exceeded all expectations, appearing as the #5 bestseller on the Publishers Weekly General Computer list, in the company of giants like Hungry Minds, Sams, and O'Reilly. "It's nice to see that we're getting such broad support, " says publisher Bill Pollock. "Our books benefit from the concentrated attention we give them, and it's good to know that we can make a difference." Since 1994, No Starch Press has published carefully selected niche titles, but until recently released only a few books each year.
