MontaVista and Diversified Technology Partner for CompactPCI Communications
Platforms
Offer High Performance Embedded Solutions
 for IA-based Applications

Sunnyvale, Calif., May 15, 2001 - MontaVista Software Inc., the company
powering the embedded revolution, and Diversified Technology Inc., a leading
designer/manufacturer of computer board products, today announced they have
joined forces to provide hardware/software solutions for the
telecommunications, data communications, industrial and medical embedded
markets.

MontaVista and Diversified Technology have partnered to offer MontaVista
Hard HatLinux® development environment targeting IA-based systems.
Specifically, the two companies will launch their alliance by collaborating
on a Linux Support Package (LSP) for DTI¹s CRX-1024 Quad Intel Pentium III
Zeon system. This system is designed for telecommunications and data
communications OEMs.

In addition, the partners will demonstrate a sample video delivery
application incorporating Diversified Technology¹s Compact PCI chassis and
MontaVista Hard Hat Linux and Hard Hat Net, at the Applied Computing
Conference in Santa Clara, Calif., from May 15 17. The demo will network
compressed, encoded video over a CompactPCI back plane and will be featured
in the Intel Booth (# 331).

Diversified Technology produces state-of-the-art products based on slot card
passive back plane and CompactPCI technologies. DTI products typically
exceed the performance speeds and levels of integration available on
competing Pentium® III, Pentium® II, Celeron, and Pentium® processor
computer board products.

³Diversified Technology is a leading supplier of embedded single-board
computers. Together our companies jointly target the strategic
communications infrastructure application space,² said Brian Grega, vice
president of sales and business development, MontaVista Software. ³With
DTI, we can help our customers build scalable, networking-intensive
infrastructure applications.²

MontaVista Hard Hat Net enables both CompactPCI system controllers and
peripheral devices to communicate using standard networking protocols across
the CompactPCI back plane at high data rates. Hard Hat Net emulates standard
Ethernet, leveraging the high bandwidth CompactPCI bus for intra-chassis
networking.

³Our joint efforts will provide developers with cost-effective, open
architecture, open software solutions, ² said Mike Dempsey, VP/CTO, of
Diversified Technology Inc. ³We will let OEM development teams focus on
their core competencies while, at the same time, accelerating their time to
market.²
