Hammel (at least I think it is) I agree about the $*#$%)# desktop icons. In Gnome, go to the Control Center, to Session Properties and Browse Running Programs. Find gmc. Select it. Remove it. You'll be much happier. You'll also run quicker, because gmc takes up memory. :) If you've updated to using Nautilus, it provides those icons. You'll have to do the same for it. And then never open it again, because if you do, it'll put them back. As for KDE, I have no clue. But I image you can't get rid of them, just like you can't change window managers. Monty
