LynuxWorks' BlueCat Linux to Ship With Intel(R) Internet Exchange Architecture
                         Software Developers Kit 2.0

  Big-Endian Version of BlueCat for Intel(R) IXP1200 Network Processor-Based
                           Networking Applications

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, Intel Developers Forum, May 17 /PRNewswire/ --
LynuxWorks(TM), Inc., provider of open source and true real-time embedded
solutions, today announced availability of its BlueCat(TM) Linux for the new
Intel(R) Internet Exchange Architecture Software Developers Kit (Intel IXA
SDK) 2.0 for the Intel(R) IXP1200 Network Processor family. LynuxWorks is the
first to announce an embedded Linux operating system for Intel's IXA SDK,
which provides a software and hardware environment for quickly developing
networking applications based on the Intel IXP1200 Network Processor.
"Intel is committed to providing its customers with options to meet their
particular needs when designing networking equipment based on Intel IXA," said
Doug Davis, general manager of Intel's network processor division. "LynuxWorks
is providing equipment designers an option for royalty free Linux along with
the support that our commercial customers need. As an addition to the software
available for the IXP1200 Network Processor, BlueCat Linux expands the choices
for developers even further."
"LynuxWorks was quick to support the Intel IXA SDK 2.0 strategy because
this will satisfy our customers' operating system's needs," said Bob Morris,
vice president of marketing at LynuxWorks. "Telecom equipment manufacturers
require a Linux distribution that provides a firm foundation for the
development of complex embedded networking applications. BlueCat Linux
complements the Intel IXA SDK 2.0 environment by providing a big-endian
version of Linux that is optimized for embedded networking applications with
features such as version stabilization, embedding tools and sample code and
routines.
The distribution of BlueCat Linux with the Intel IXA SDK 2.0 will provide
developers with a royalty-free, open-source Linux distribution that is suited
to the needs of manufacturers developing communications equipment based on the
Intel IXP1200 Network Processor. This big-endian port, coupled with the design
of the IXP1200 and its network control task functionality, will allow
companies to accelerate development of next-generation Internet products.
The two companies have a strong history of working together. LynuxWorks is
a member of the Intel IXA Developers Forum and the Applied Computing Platform
Provider (ACPP) program. Results of this cooperation include solutions and
technology initiatives targeted to the high availability requirements for
communications infrastructure equipment providers.

    Pricing and Availability
The BlueCat Linux development and support package will be distributed free
of charge with Intel shipments of the Intel IXA SDK 2.0. LynuxWorks will
provide first-level BlueCat support for Intel IXA SDK 2.0 customers.

About the Intel IXA SDK 2.0
The Intel IXA SDK 2.0 features a new programming framework, the Intel(R)
Active Computing Element. Using the ACE framework, code is written in small
modular building blocks. These portable building blocks are much easier to
modify and re-use, reducing development time. The optional Intel(R) Embedded
Linux Integrated Development Environment replaces the time-consuming practice
of command-line programming with a graphical user interface for quickly
configuring and debugging Linux applications.

    About LynuxWorks' BlueCat
LynuxWorks' BlueCat is an open-source Linux, and is available as a
complete solution for developers. In addition to a stable commercial version
of the operating system, LynuxWorks provides a complete software development
environment and tools for debugging and tuning applications. BlueCat is backed
by a variety of optional support packages offering software engineering,
technical support, consulting and professional services from LynuxWorks.
