RTLinux now runs on the IBM 405 series of embedded PowerPC processors

(May 22, 2001; Socorro NM) Finite State Machine Labs: the RTLinux[tm] 
Company, has announced the availability of RTLinux and the RTLinux 
Development Kit for the IBM Walnut PowerPC 405 evaluation platform. 
The worst case measured periodic jitter times are less than 14 
microseconds under stress tests on the Walnut platform. Context 
switch times are four microseconds worst case.

Cort Dougan, FSM's Director of Engineering and Linux PowerPC 
maintainer, notes that the RTLinux Development Kit combines with the 
PowerPC 4xx series' low power consumption rate and excellent 
interrupt response times to allow hardware designers to build 
real-time systems without wasting valuable time on assembling pieces. 
"With this single CD, an application programmer can have their 
real-time system running and start working on their own application," 
said Dougan.
