Linux NetworX Announces Support For AMD's Multiprocessor Architecture
AMD-760(TM) MP Multiprocessing Chipset to Enhance High Performance Linux
Clusters

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, June 5, 2001 - Linux NetworX, a leading provider of
powerful
and easy-to-manage Linux cluster computing solutions, announced today support
through its Evolocity(TM) cluster systems for the new AMD Athlon(TM) MP
processor
and the AMD-760(TM) MP multiprocessing chipset (see
http://www.linuxnetworx.com/products/evolocity_amdmp.html
for more information). Evolocity is a complete turnkey cluster solution,
which
incorporates computational hardware with Linux NetworX cluster management
software
called ClusterWorX®.

"The AMD Athlon(TM) MP platform with Smart MP technology is a good fit for
high
performance computing on Linux NetworX cluster systems," said Clark Roundy,
vice
president of Linux NetworX. "Space and system density are issues with
large-scale
Linux cluster solutions. The AMD multiprocessor platform is a nice addition
to
our high density, high performance Evolocity family of cluster systems."

"The AMD Athlon MP platform is an excellent choice for enterprise-based
servers
and workstations," said Kevin Knox, AMD Director, Enterprise Segment
Marketing
& Business Development. "Linux NetworX has already employed the
award-winning
AMD Athlon processor in its high performance compute engines used in
scientific
research in Fortune 500 companies, as well as academic institutions. We
applaud
the success of Linux NetworX, and plan to continue to offer them support in
the
future."

Rebel Arts LLC ("Rebel Arts"), a technology and software developer focused on
massively multiplayer online server solutions for the game industry, is the
first
Linux NetworX customer to order an Evolocity cluster solution based on the
AMD
Athlon MP processor with Smart MP technology. Based in Calabasas, Calif.,
Rebel
Arts is using this technology to develop its Versatile Accelerated Server
Technology
("VASTSM") system which is designed to bring significant improvements in
design
and performance, as well as increased cost efficiencies and affordability to
massively multiplayer online gaming.

"The biggest problem for developers of massively multiplayer online games is
the high cost of building out and managing their server infrastructure," said
Paul Villadolid, CEO, Rebel Arts. "Linux NetworX, with its ClusterWorX
management
software and leadership position in building large scale clusters, and AMD's
high performance processors are the keys to the solution in our VASTSM
system."

"We can deliver the performance needed to handle the high demands of a
massively
multiplayer system, at a lower price point, thanks to the AMD-760 MP chipset,
DDR memory, increased bandwidth, full-speed cache and transaction buffering,"
added Larry Hess, CTO, Rebel Arts.

Cluster technology is a method of linking multiple computers, or compute
nodes,
together to form a powerful, unified system. Linux NetworX designs clustering
solutions including computational hardware and management software for use in
high performance computing (HPC) and high availability (HA) applications.

Linux NetworX designed and delivered the world's first commercial Linux
cluster
system in 1997. Today, Linux NetworX systems are used in a variety of
industries
including oil and gas exploration, biotechnology research and modeling,
graphics
rendering, gaming, and aeronautics.
