First output management solution for Linux on zSeries

Macro 4 delivers multiple-server, SAP(r) R/3(r) and mySAP.com(tm) certified
output management technology

The first output management solution to support Linux on IBM's new S/390
eServer zSeries is to be launched by Macro 4, a leading independent developer
of information delivery and systems management solutions. Users of Macro 4's
SAP(r) certified output management solution, will now have the e-business
mainframe technology benefits of space, energy and cost savings coupled with
the assurance of dependable output across a distributed network.

Macro 4's solution gives users a single point of control for cross-platform
enterprise printing from an IBM eServer zSeries platform running Linux and
assures the delivery of documents from the point of origin to any output
destination - be it print, fax, e-mail, or the Web. It also allows the
management of output from multiple applications: large SAP implementations
require many SAP application servers and large companies often run as many as
150 instances of SAP at once. Organisations can simplify their IT systems by
moving the SAP application servers to one zSeries box with each application
running on an instance of Linux.

"As more businesses discover the advantages of the Linux operating system,
the demand for compatible systems solutions increases," said Robert Castley,
Product Manager at Macro 4. "Our solution now offers Linux users the same
levels of guaranteed delivery, printing and true status reporting on multiple
hardware platforms as UNIX or Windows NT( users."

Already successfully deployed on all popular variations of UNIX and Windows
NT, Macro 4's solution is the only one to support several open systems
releases of Linux, including Linux on the S/390 and on the high volume
eServer zSeries. The solution is SAP R/3 and mySAP.com certified through the
BC-XOM interface. Using this interface, Macro 4's technology enables users to
monitor and manage their output requests and devices from within their
mySAP.com environment.

Robert Castley concludes: "Adding SAP output management support for Linux on
the zSeries to our solution is part of Macro 4's continuing development of
its systems management product range for Linux. Macro 4 takes pride in its
relationships with its clients and aims to customise solutions as much as
possible to their specific needs, as well as offering flexible licensing that
provides manageable costs."
