June 1st 2001,
After purchasing a Thinkpad 600E a year ago I found myself in the unenviable
position of wanting something
I couldn't have: A CDRW drive for my thinkpad. So, I have made one.
And now, I am selling them to anyone else who wants one.
They are brand new 4x-4x-20x CDRW's from Matsushita with some minor internal
modifications and external
IBM parts to make them compatible with the ultraslimbay of the 600 (and 570
as it turns out).
They are capable of booting the system from bootabl CD-ROMs and are
compatible with Easy CD Creator, Nero,
and a host of other CDRW software. This includes the 'cdrecord' program for
most Linux's. It has been tested
with Red Hat 6.1 and 6.2.
