FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FSMLabs and A&A Linux Announce RTLinux Development and Distribution Agreement

(June 18, 2001; Socorro, NM; Tokyo, Japan) Finite State Machine Labs:
the RTLinux[tm] Company, and A&A Linux Corporation, a pioneering
Japanese embedded Linux firm, have announced a realtime Linux joint
development agreement. The two firms simultaneously announced a
Japanese market sales and distribution agreement for RTLinux.

RTLinux is a low-overhead hard realtime operating system (RTOS) based
on the POSIX 1003.13 PS51 "minimal realtime" specification. It runs a
general purpose operating system (Linux or BSD) as an idle-time task
which is never permitted to delay or interfere with the actions of
timing critical software. RTLinux has worst case interrupt latency of
less than 20 microseconds on commodity PC hardware and no less than 5
microseconds on some embedded boards. Because RTLinux provides access
to the full power of Linux, its development environment and
applications, RTLinux encourages a robust style of software design
with a rapid, low-cost, development cycle.

A&A will integrate RTLinux technology into their "A&A Linux"
distribution. The first release, A&A/RTLinux, is available now for
the x86 architecture. A&A Linux and FSMLabs will jointly develop
A&A/RTLinux-On-ITRON, a hybrid of RTLinux and the Japanese de
facto-standard embedded RTOS.

"RTLinux is already very popular in Japan," said Victor Yodaiken, CEO
of FSMLabs. "Working with A&A Linux, we hope to make RTLinux and the
RTLinux decoupled-OS approach to realtime more accessible to Japanese
engineers. Japan is a world center for industrial control, telecom
and consumer electronics and in all of these areas RTLinux can help
good engineers make smarter machines, cheaper."

All products developed under the agreement will be technically
supported by A&A Linux Corporation's distributors, AI Corporation and
Advanced Data Controls, which will provide development tools and
related products for A&A/RTLinux.

Hiroyuki Kato, President of A&A Linux said, "This technological
agreement will aid the development of embedded Linux in Japan. With
FSMLabs' technology, A&A Linux will be well positioned to provide
cutting-edge Linux with realtime capabilities. Technical support and
system integration services provided by A&A will enable developers in
Japan to take full advantage of reliable embedded Linux."
