FastIndex is an advanced full-text search engine written in Common Lisp which, among other features, allows grammatical number and tense not to be correct in queries. The search engine interfaces with Apache. FastIndex is currently used as the search engine for an online library that mostly contains Sherlock Holmes stories. The site is used for a research project with a number of goals, including exploring Web presentation without use of graphics.
