New Product Announcement: StreamStor PCI-816XF exceeds 1Gbps Sustained
Recording and Playback on Hard Drives!

Longmont, Colorado — (August 20, 2001) — Boulder Instruments
(www.boulderinstruments.com) announced today its latest addition to the
StreamStor family of real time storage systems, the PCI-816XF. The
PCI-816XF provides a 64bit PCI interface, an FPDP interface (defined by
Interactive Circuits and Systems, Ltd) and sustained recording and playback
at speeds expected to reach 200 Mbytes/Sec! The PCI-816XF is an ideal
storage solution for extremely high data rate applications including video,
digital cinematography, simulation, and radar.

“We are very excited by the early interest in our latest high-end streaming
technology product, the PCI-816XF. Increases in hardware performance,
specifically network & processor, continue to outpace the performance of
both SCSI and IDE disk drives, creating a storage bottleneck for real-time
applications. StreamStor optimizes hard drive performance and aggregates
an array of disks to sustain extremely high performance. With an onboard
real time operating system, StreamStor supports direct data transfers from
the acquisition source and dynamic memory allocation - overcoming
bottlenecks common to RAID type storage systems for real time recording and
playback,” said Tom Skrobacz, VP of Business Development. “The XF also
includes features to enable data mirroring for customers that demand both
cutting edge performance and data redundancy. With the FPDP interface
customers can save time and money by eliminating the need to purchase a
separate board for data acquisition. The FPDP interface allows them to
conveniently connect their data source directly into the storage system.”

Boulder Instruments has already amassed a queue of orders for the new
product to both domestic and international customers. First shipments are
expected in the October timeframe.

StreamStor offers the only direct to storage digital PCI and CPCI recording
and playback solutions available for the Windows and Linux operating
systems. Boulder Instruments designs and manufactures real-time disk-based
recording systems for scientific, military and commercial applications. Its
current products can record and playback hours of digital data with industry
leading sustained performance on hard drives. It is a privately held
