FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

REDSonic Joins the MIPS™ Alliance Program

SANTA ANA, Calif., - September 26, 2001 - REDSonic, Inc., a leader in
real-time Linux solutions for the embedded market, today announced its entry
into the MIPSÔ Alliance Program. REDSonic has developed a board support
package (BSP) for MIPS Technologies' Malta board, a MIPS32™
architecture-based software development platform, with its innovative
embedded Linux development and deployment tool, RED-Builder™.

REDSonic will leverage the success of the popular MIPS32 architecture in the
high-growth digital consumer and networking markets. Customers using the
high-performance, low-power MIPS-based™ embedded processors will now have
access to REDSonic's tools and developer support to rapidly develop custom
applications for the Internet appliance, consumer electronics, aerospace,
industrial automation, networking, and telecommunications markets.

"Coupled with our real-time Linux kernel, REDICE-Linux™, REDSonic's support
for MIPS-based processors in our tool offering satiates an important segment
of our customer base," said Kevin Tobin, REDSonic's director of sales. "The
future for product development demands accelerated time-to-market solutions
with reduced development and run-time costs. Within the digital entertainment
marketplace, REDSonic is catering to this demand by targeting our innovative
QoS and embedded Linux technology, and easy-to-use tools for the wide-array
of low-power, high-performance MIPS-based processors."

"There is an exciting new trend for open-source products for embedded systems
and REDSonic is positioned to take advantage of this by prioritizing their
resources on the needs of MIPS Technologies' semiconductor licensees and
their OEM customers," said Kevin Meyer, VP of marketing at MIPS Technologies.
"We welcome REDSonic as a participant of the MIPS Alliance Program."
