Next Generation of SolidWorks’ eDrawings Built with HOOPS® Technology New eDrawings v2.0 and Professional leverages HOOPS graphics, streaming and collaboration technologies Oakland, CA – October 10, 2001 - Tech Soft America (TSA), a leading provider of component graphics technology to the CAD/CAM/CAE industry, today announced a technology licensing agreement whereby SolidWorks Corporation, a leading provider of affordable, easy-to-use 3D CAD solutions, has incorporated HOOPS technology for graphic and streaming capabilities into its recently announced eDrawings 2.0 product. Following a thorough technical evaluation of several major streaming and visualization technologies, SolidWorks selected the HOOPS product suite to build this powerful, new version of eDrawings. Specifically, SolidWorks has incorporated the following technologies into the new release of eDrawings: HOOPS 3D Application Framework - HOOPS/3dAF provides a flexible development tool that enables the rapid development of design, visualization and engineering applications across multiple platforms for the desktop or the Web. HOOPS/3dAF is a key technology used in the sophisticated 2D and 3D visualization, annotation, and printing functionality in eDrawings 2.0. HOOPS Stream Toolkit – HOOPS/Stream is a powerful component that helps developers create highly compressed data streams or files containing 2D, 3D and custom application data which may then be quickly transported over networks, even those with limited bandwidth. SolidWorks uses HOOPS/Stream to create highly compressed and stream-ready eDrawings files.
