Looking for your LPI Certificate ??? There are now over 1,000 LPIC-1 graduates. We congratulate you on this achievement, and look forward to your input into LPI. As a volunteer organization, we are always looking for ideas and assistance - please add yourself to our mailing lists to participate; http://www.lpi.org/maillists.html We are often asked " When will I receive my LPIC-1 Certificate? " The time frame to receive the certificate is usually 6 to 10 weeks. If 12 weeks have passed and you have not received your certificate, please don't hesitate to contact us to confirm that it is on it's way; info@lpi.org 2. Training Centres and Training Ideas; The website http://www.lintraining.com is a central point to find a Linux training centre - it is totally independent from LPI, but it really helps folk find a place to get some Linux training and some ideas regarding Linux events taking place. If your training centre is doing Linux courses, please add yourself to the site. There are also training ideas that can be found on the LPI web-site; http://www.lpi.org/c-preparation.html Please take a look at the books, training centres, web-based training, courseware and trainers - that are available Some of our volunteers have taken time to prepare courseware to assist our candidates. For Level 2 preparation we had some friends in The Netherlands who prepared the following; The LPIC-2 Exam Prep(on-line guide) http://scn.snow.nl/lpi/ 3. Volunteer of the Month; Teresa Yuey - http://www.wowlinux.com Teresa works for Wowlinux in Korea. She has been assisting LPI in her part of the world, and has been helping to set up an LPI affiliate in Korea. Level 2 Publication; As mentioned above we are completing the Level 2 beta and preparing to publish the Live exams with Vue; http://www.vue.com/lpi The tests are scheduled to be be operational on November 15th 2001. Anyone who has taken the Level 2 combined beta exam should receive their results no later than November 5th. LPI has created a new, experimental web interface for test-takers to check their scores by entering their LPI number. It will be announced shortly. If you would like to help out, please let us know. Director of Exam Development, Kara Pritchard, will be attending the 2001 ALS in Oakland, CA (Nov. 8 - 10.) Level 1 LPI is continuing to update the Level 1 exams, updating obsolete testing items and adding new ones. To get involved with development or review, contact kara@lpi.org, and help us launch our new Level 1 exams in Q1 2002 9. Level 1 Graduates - Plastic Identity Cards. LPI Alumni have asked us to create plastic cards which can be used to verify certification status when talking with current or potential employers, clients, or friends. A few Alumni and friends have generously donated $100 to cover production costs, but we need several more donations in order to create the cards. Please consider a $100 donation - (where your name will appear on the LPI website as a sponsor) earmarked for the Alumni Certification Cards. To make it simple, you can use www.paypal.com from anywhere in the world by sending your donation to wilma@lpi.org. Or send your cheque to LPI. 10. LPI Trademarks It is our pleasure to announce that our first Tradmark has been approved, in the European Union. The name "Linux Professional Institute" has finally been approved by the EU. The process for applying for Trademarks is a lengthy one, and it is very exciting to see the first one become a reality. 11. Linux Articles for Publication LPI is looking for articles and stories on various Linux topics. Linux success stories, GNU Linux or Open Source in general - or LPI exam stories. The topic is very wide, and can be about any type of Linux area. All articles are appreciated. Please send your story to; thelinuxguy@gemair.com Don Corbett - (another of our supportive volunteers), will send the stories to the relevant news and magazine publishers.
