From: "Tom 'spot' Callaway" <tcallawa@redhat.com> To: <aurora-sparc-devel@linuxpower.org> Subject: [ANNOUNCE] Build 0.1 of the Aurora SPARC project is loose! Date: Mon, 5 Nov 2001 23:51:06 -0500 (EST) Cc: <aurora-sparc-announce@linuxpower.org>, <sparc-list@redhat.com> To all who dare, The first batch of RPMS are ready for the public eyes, ears, and hard drives. They can be found here: http://aurora.linuxpower.org/build-0.1/ There is also a web page at aurora.linuxpower.org. Yes, it sucks, but I'm not a Web Designer. If you're graphically inclined, I'm accepting patches. As far as Build 0.1 goes, it includes the basic pieces needed. Glibc, kernel-headers, gcc 2.96, X, gnome-libs, perl, python, and bash. These packages are not for the average user, only for those needing bleeding edge and willing to help clean up code. I wouldn't bet on any of the kernel packages booting. You're welcome to try. Right now, there are no sparc64 specific packages, everything was build on my trusty SS5. Xconfigurator definitely doesn't work (any volunteers to dive into the source and try to figure out why its segfaulting?). There is an ICE in gcc 2.96 when trying to build ImageMagick that Jakub hasn't gotten back to me on. I know some of the packages have oddness with regards to bzip2, please, let me know when you find one, and ill rebuild it for build 0.2 sooner rather than later. Please report bugs of any kind, and thanks for your patience. ~spot --- Tom "spot" Callaway <tcallawa@redhat.com> Red Hat Commercial Support Sair Linux and GNU Certified Administrator (LCA) GPG: D786 8B22 D9DB 1F8B 4AB7 448E 3C5E 99AD 9305 4260 The words and opinions reflected in this message do not necessarily reflect those of my employer, Red Hat, and belong solely to me.
