Desired Qualifications:
Here are the  "we would strongly like to have" (in addition to the "must
have" below):

     Extensive knowledge of BSD operating and networking systems:

     Extensive experience developing device drivers
     Extensive experience enhancing and supporting the kernel
     Expert knowledge of TCP/IP and UDP/IP down to the packet level
     Expert knowledge of SANs and fibre channel switch fabric
     Strong knowledge of PCI buses

Here are the "must haves":

MidStream Technologies is seeking a senior software engineer to join our
kernel development team.  The successful
candidate will have extensive experience constructing, troubleshooting,
and maintaining kernel components in complex
product environments.  Extensive knowledge of Unix, C/C++ (and relevant
lower level languages), and hardware integration is
required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Architect and design kernel level software systems in
Unix-based environment.

·         Construct, maintain, and support kernel components in multiple
product lines, principally in C/C++ and lower level
   languages.

·         Work in a team environment with hardware engineering and
application engineering to deliver products to market.

·         And any other duties that may be assigned or necessary.

·         This position may be required to work extensive overtime, as
necessary, depending on department and project schedules
   and requires regular attendance

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         Expert knowledge of low-level software engineering practices.

·         Extensive experience troubleshooting complex, high-speed
systems involving hardware and software.

·         Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·         Self-motivated individual that is committed to the attainment
of project goals.

·         Familiarity with networking technologies.

Education, Certification, Training and/or Minimum Qualifications

·         At least seven years experience in low-level software
engineering (interacting with kernel drivers, operating systems, file
   systems, custom hardware platforms).

·         At least five years experience delivering products to market.

·         BSCS, BSEE, or equivalent experience is required.

·         Strong knowledge of Unix and Unix derivatives.
