Embedded Linux Journal Announces Third Contest, Based on Linux4.TV

SEATTLE, WA -- SSC Publications, publisher of the bi-monthly print magazine
Embedded Linux Journal (ELJ), is pleased to announce the third embedded
Linux development contest, based on Linux4.TV.

Linux4.TV, a collaborative project of Century Embedded Technologies and
National Semiconductor, is a completely open-source, open-architecture,
set-top box platform with support for digital and audio tuners, DVD,
streaming video and interactive services. This contest will focus on
creating innovative uses for the platform using embedded Linux. As Embedded
Linux Journal Editor in Chief Don Marti quipped, "If it's still an 'idiot
box' after this contest, you have nobody to blame but yourself."

Project proposals are due on February 20, 2002. The twenty finalists
selected will be announced at the Embedded Systems Conference on March 13.
Completed projects will be due on October 31 and the five final winners will
be announced at Fall COMDEX on November 18, 2002. Contest judges include
well-known embedded community personalities such as Century Software CEO
Greg Haerr, LinuxDevices.com founder Rick Lehrbaum, David Pederson, STB
director at National Semiconductor, and ELJ's own Editor in Chief, Don
Marti.
