Linux4.TV, a collaborative project of Century Embedded Technologies and National Semiconductor, is a completely open-source, open-architecture, set-top box platform with support for digital and audio tuners, DVD, streaming video and interactive services. This contest will focus on creating innovative uses for the platform using embedded Linux. As Embedded Linux Journal Editor in Chief Don Marti quipped, "If it's still an 'idiot box' after this contest, you have nobody to blame but yourself." Project proposals are due on February 20, 2002. The twenty finalists selected will be announced at the Embedded Systems Conference on March 13. Completed projects will be due on October 31 and the five final winners will be announced at Fall COMDEX on November 18, 2002.
