Subject: [ANNOUNCE] OpenGFS 0.0.92 (second test release for 0.1)
Date: Fri, 25 Jan 2002 16:44:45 +0100

The second prerelease of OpenGFS 0.1, codenamed "bavaria" is now available.

This is mostly a bugfix release relative to GFS 4.1.1. It fixes major
security problems and race conditions. The supported kernel versions are:

	2.4.13-ac*, 2.4.16 and 2.4.17

The recommend kernel version is 2.4.13-ac5. Note that Linux 2.2 is no
longer supported, you have to upgrade to Linux 2.4.

Since the first prerelease the following changes have neem made:

  - gnbd has been removed from the OpenGFS distribution. It's available
separately from the OpenGFS project, but it's use is discuraged.

  - kernel patches are provided for Linux 2.4.13-ac, 2.4.16 and 2.4.17.
This means support for the new virtual memory subsystem in the
mainline 2.4.1x kernels has been added.

  - many bugs have been fixed.

This test release is available as source tarball and source RPM at:

Binary RPMs for OpenGFS and a patched kernel are planned for one of the
next releases.
