January 31, 2002 THE FOSDEM IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT IT will host the
fourth FSF AWARD CEREMONY DURING FOSDEM MEETING
The FSF award ceromony  will take place on Saturday 16 February  2002
during FOSDEM

In collaboration with the Free Software Foundation - Europe the FOSDEM
will Host and Organize the FSF award Ceremony

Brussels, Belgium - January 31, 2002 - The FOSDEM orgnization is pleased
to announce that the Free Software Foundation (FSF) will bestow its
fourth annual Free Software Foundation Award for the Advancement of Free
Software in Brussels during the FOSDEM meeting that will take place 16
and 17 February 2002.  Richard Stallman will present the award. The
FOSDEM will organize the ceremony. Proceeds from the event will go to
benefit the Free Software Foundation Europe.

"We are honored that the Free Software Foundation has decided this year
to bestow his award during the FOSDEM event. As an organization, the
FOSDEM's goal is to build community programs to support development in
key technology areas for both Free and Open Source Software, as well as
outreach programs to introduce both individuals and corporations to Free
Software development and the benefits of Free Software solutions," said
Raphel Bauduin, one of the FOSDEM organizers.

A panel of free software pioneers and leaders will select the finalists
from the scores of mostly volunteer programmers worldwide who dedicate
their time to advancing free software.=20

"We began the Free Software Foundation Award as a way to honor those who
have tirelessly given their time and their immense talent to further the
Free Software Movement," said Richard Stallman, founder and president of
the Free Software Foundation.
