X-Hive Extends Features for Native XML Database; Adds J2EE, WebDAV, and
XUpdate to X-Hive/DB 2.0.

ROTTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS - February 4, 2002 - X-Hive Corporation, leading
innovator in XML database technology announced today that it has added
support for WebDAV, J2EE, and XUpdate to the latest release of its native
XML database, X-Hive/DB 2.0. By introducing these new modules, X-Hive
continues to provide XML and Java developers with support for mission
critical native XML database applications.

"J2EE component technology enables customers to realize efficiency and
effectiveness in their XML development process by using standardized
technology." explains X-Hive Corporation's CEO and co-founder, Jeroen van
Rotterdam. "Since our focus is to provide the market with the most advanced
and "complete" native XML database, J2EE support is a natural addition to
X-Hive/DB 2.0."

J2EE Resource Adapter Implementation
X-Hive's Resource Adapter Implementation of the J2EE Connector Specification
allows customers to build Enterprise Java Beans where X-Hive/DB acts as an
Enterprise Information System (EIS). The J2EE Connector technology
simplifies the integration of diverse EIS systems since each EIS requires
just one implementation of the J2EE Connector technology. With the
implementation of the Resource Adapter, connection management can be
outsourced to the EJB server in a standardized way.

Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV)
X-Hive's WebDAV implementation allows end users to access, create and manage
X-Hive/DB collections and documents directly from WebDAV-compliant desktop
applications such as SoftQuad's XMetaL, Altova's XML Spy, Microsoft Office,
etc.

X-Hive's WebDAV gives a direct access to collections and folders within
X-Hive/DB 2.0 without copying the document. XML documents can be opened
within WebDAV compliant applications like Microsoft IE by double clicking
the document.

XUpdate
XUpdate, from the XML:DB initiative, provides an open and flexible query and
update facility to modify data in XML documents. X-Hive/DB 2.0 now includes
a module with support for Lexus, the Lexus, the reference XUpdate
implementation used in open source project and commercial projects. An
online demo of the XUpdate implementation can be found at
http://www.x-hive.com/xupdate.

XQuery prototype updated
In addition to the new support modules, X-Hive has also updated the online
demo of its XQuery implementation, according to the latest XQuery Working
Draft. The online demo of the XQuery prototype has been updated according to
the latest XQuery Working Draft. The online demo can be found at
http://www.x-hive.com/xquery.

X-Hive/DB 2.0 is now available. Evaluation software can be downloaded from
