Subject: [kbuild-devel] Your opinion on CML2 and kbuild-2.5

kbuild team members: Dirk Hohndel has volunteered to have a chat with
Linus about the CML2/kbuild-2.5 transition (and, implicitly, the status
and role of the kbuild team).

Please inform him of:

1) your technical judgement and opinions about CML2 and kbuild-2.5

2) the problems with the present build system,

3) whether or not you think CML2 and kbuild-2.5 should be mainstreamed
   into the kernel,

4) known remaining problems with CML2 and kbuild-2.5, and what the plans
   are to address them.

He needs to hear from the whole kbuild team and properly understand
the background of our present rather frustrating situation.

If gun laws in fact worked, the sponsors of this type of legislation
should have no difficulty drawing upon long lists of examples of
criminal acts reduced by such legislation. That they cannot do so
after a century and a half of trying -- that they must sweep under the
rug the southern attempts at gun control in the 1870-1910 period, the
northeastern attempts in the 1920-1939 period, the attempts at both
Federal and State levels in 1965-1976 -- establishes the repeated,
complete and inevitable failure of gun laws to control serious crime.
-- Senator Orrin Hatch, in a 1982 Senate Report
