From: Steve Litt <slitt@troubleshooters.com> To: lwn@lwn.net Subject: Slashdot's Robin Miller is the keynote speaker at the Orlando CTS Date: Tue, 7 May 2002 11:40:50 -0400 Hi Jonathan, Robin Miller is the keynote speaker for the CTS show in Orlando on May 15, 2002, from 10:30am to 11:30am. The title of his talk is "Building Profitable Web Sites With Free Software". I think this is news for several reasons: 1. THE keynote address for a mainstream IT event is a Linux person. 2. This demonstrates the symbiotic relationship between event promoters (in this case Event Management Services, of Portland, OR) and Linux User Groups (in this case Linux Enthusiasts and Professionals, Orlando Florida). 3. Even though big Linux shows are few and far between (and getting fewer thanks to shutdowns and moveaways), LUGs are managing to piggyback on local and regional shows to maintain a strong show presence. I'd appreciate it if you could post this, or even better write a story about it. If you write a story about it, here is the contact information: * For Event Management Services: Barbie Souza, bsouza@techshows.com. * For Robin Miller: Robin Miller, robin@roblimo.com. * For Linux Enthusiasts and Professionals: Steve Litt, slitt@troubleshooters.com.
