From: Marc-Christian Petersen <mcp@linux-systeme.de> To: linux-kernel@vger.kernel.org Subject: [ANNOUNCE] Kernel 2.4.18-WOLK3.4 Date: Tue, 21 May 2002 23:07:31 +0100 Kernel - patched - WOLK3.4 - Base: Linux kernel 2.4.18 located at http://sf.net/projects/wolk by Marc-Christian Petersen <mcp@linux-systeme.de> -------------------------------------------------------------------------- WOLK 3.4 contains many adds and several bugfixes found in WOLK 3.3. Changelog is too big to post it to the Mailinglist, so go to: https://sf.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=84886 to read it! - Nice add: LSM and LIDS 2.0.1pre3 for LSM - Thanks to darix <darix@irssi.de> for the project name WOLK. What is this? Why another patchset/patched kernel? Using Linux since years, very tired of there are not really good patchsets available which adds many stuff like this. Saw FOLK Patch/Kernel which is still very very buggy. Inspired by: jp-Patchsets from Joerg Prante <joerg@infolinux.de>, jam-Patchset from J.A. Magallon <jamagallon@able.es>, shawn-xfs from Shawn Starr <shawn.starr@datawire.net>, aa-Patchset from Andrea Arcangeli <andrea@suse.de>, mjc-Patchset from Michael J. Cohen <mjc@kernel.org> The WOLK's are development kernels/patchsets for testing purpose only. !! If you want to use it in production, use it at your own risk !! Their purpose is to provide a service for developers and end-users who can't be up to date with the latest official stable kernels/patches but want to test many features out there linux can use. Maybe, (hopefully) some of them will be included into the mainstream kernel 2.4 soon ... ... Greetings to Marcello at this point ;-) There will always be a new WOLK major release if there is a new final kernel released. Minor releases only if someone/me found critical bugs, or in case of some adds. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- You are missing a patch? Patches will be added by request. You think one or more of the patches are fully useless? Tell me why. You want YOUR Patch / other patches to be included ? Let me know!! If you can, send your merge against wolk. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mailinglists: ------------- https://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=49048 Some of the features: --------------------- grsecurity, crypto, win4lin, xfs, kdb, jfs, kdb, preempt, freeswan, IPVS, i2c/lmsensors, tux, uml, compressed cache, evms, badmem, ABI, supermount, ftpfs, LSM, LIDS ... and many more. The WOLK 3.4 kernel/patchset contains over 400 Patches. Credits go to all the people who created the patches, working hard on improving the quality. Greetings: ---------- - Michael Gasperi - Joerg Prante - Shawn Starr - Andre Hedrick - Michael J. Cohen P.S.: Hopefully a new Project Homepage will be up in 2 weeks with detailed information about the patches and other usefull things and links. Check out http://wolk.sf.net in ~ 2 weeks! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Feel free to send me feedback.
