PortsSparcA Sparc OEM has started selling Linux-installed Ultra systems. See their press releaseto see what they (EIS Computers) are saying about it. Their publicity doesn't say this, but what they are selling can only be the UltraLinux distribution, which has been around for a little while. Maybe they will credit it when they get their web site updated - it currently has no mention of the Linux offering. In any case, EIS is an OEM that sells into the Solaris market. It is encouraging to see that they see a future in UltraLinux and are making moves in that direction. AlphaA beta test version of ApplixWare for the Alpha has been produced, though it is not generally available. The engineer involved, posting to the axp-list mailing list, hopes to see the commercial release out by the end of the year.A new web site oriented toward Alpha beginners has been announced, have a look. An alternate site that has been available for a while is The Linux Alpha Archive. Guenter Geiger has posted a short guide to Configuring AlphaBios(TM) to Boot the Debian Rescue Disk. |
